Military members nation-wide confront a multitude of problems during their careers, the last thing they need to worry about is their pet's care during their service commitments. Dogs On Deployment is a 501(c)(3) national non-profit which provides an online network for service members to search for volunteers who are willing to board their pets during their owner's service commitments. Dogs on Deployment promotes responsible, life-long pet ownership by military pet owners by advocating for military pet owner rights, providing educational resources and granting financial assistance for military pet owners during times of emergency. Join Dogs on Deployment's mission in changing the lives of our military members and their pets.
Last October, Ace came to stay with us while both his owners were deployed. He is a black German Sheppard with a ton of personality and more energy than any animal I've every known! It didn't take long for him to become a part of our family! Today is he going home. We will miss him greatly, but are happy he gets to return to his family. He will also forever be a part of ours. I tell everyone about Dogs on Deployment and it always generates a lot of interest and enthusiasm. I also have people tell me they could never do that because it would be to hard to part with them in the end. Yes, it's hard, but no harder than what our military people go through when they have to say good bye to family and friends when they deploy. The do this selflessly in order to assure and protect our freedom. Taking care of their furbabies while they are gone is the least we can do for them. If you have room in your heart and in your home, I strongly recommend becoming a DoD boarder. It will be the best thing you've ever done!
