I cannot express how grateful I am that this organization exists. Worrying about who'd watch my pets was my number one stress point prior to my deployment. I was even fortunate enough to have my dogs featured on Facebook at one point. Many wonderful and kind people responded offering to open up their homes to both of my dogs! I eventually was able to meet with some of the people who offered and I'm so pleased to say that the family who took my dogs in couldn't be more wonderful! I receive photos and emails about how they're doing and I feel able to deploy without worry or concern about my beloved animals. Thank you so much, Dogs on Deployment!

I fostered kitties, Maybe and Sometimes, for a couple from Duport, WA. It was a wonderful experience. I e-mailed pictures and stories regularly and they said it helped them a lot while away from their "babies". I'd recommend fostering for DOD.

After learning about Dogs on Deployment from the Queen Latifah show I felt compelled to register as a boarder. We have found a wonderful family with two boxers that need our help. After a successful meeting we will be receiving the dogs next weekend. We look forward to having Gunney and Cadence as part of our family for the next year. We wish for a safe return of their Daddy and thank him for his service.

The relief I felt when I received the kind email saying Quincy could be registered is a day I will not forget. In the days following, I was in contact with a family not far from our home. He was introduced to his new friend Luke and family. It was such a great feeling to know he clicked with his host family. Our family now could be reunited. This is a wonderful organization, one that our family will not forget!

I was unaware of this program or even the need until my neighbor fostered a dog a few months ago for a deployed service member. I have become fond of the dog and slip him treats(with the neighbors permission) through the fence to make him feel at home. I think this is a wonderful program to alleviate extra stress on the service member knowing their animals are being cared for as well as the opportunity for others to give back! ~Jill

What a great program! We are the boarders of 2 dogs, a Marine and a National Guard. To know that we can give piece of mind to those who fight for our freedom is a wonderful experience. It is a small way to give back to those who give it all. We look forward to boarding many more pets!

I came across this site today and I think its absolutely wonderful. I've been an Army vet tech for 10 years and so many military members can benefit from this service. I also have so many retired clients who would love to hear about it and become boarders. I'll definitely start promoting this at work! I might even need to use it in the future for my fur babies. Thank you!

I was very skeptical when I chose to use this website. My dog is my BABY and it was very difficult to have to find another home for her while I was at school. After an easy registration and a few phone calls and email exchanges with Emi’s “foster family,” I found a responsible family who I would never have found otherwise. Thank you so much for all you do, DoD. Now I can focus on my schooling and Emi is having fun with her new friends, human and canine alike!

My heart was so convicted the first time I saw a Pet in Need posted via DoD on FB ... after viewing and sharing several posts from around the country, I told myself that if a Pet in Need turned up within 50 miles of us, I would register with DoD and do my best to help out. The very next post by DoD was a story from our local animal shelter! Two dogs had been surrendered by their older owner (a Vietnam Vet) who had fallen on hard times and could no longer care for his furbabies. He was desperate to have them re-homed together and because of his Veteran status, DoD picked up his story. I immediately made contact with the foster mom and we were able to meet Rebel and Blaze in July ... they became part of our family that very day. The previous owner is a resident of our community and is able to come by our house to visit his furangels whenever he wants. I know it is a relief to him to know that his furkids have found the furever home that he was no longer able to provide. Our story is different from most of the DoD stories, which is why I wanted to share it ... you just never know how the posting and sharing of one story can change a life forever! Thank you for your amazing program and for allowing us to support our troops and demonstrate our gratitude for their service in such a tangible way! keep up the good work!

Thank you so much for thinking of and implementing such an amazing service! It is a relief to know that while I am away I can focus on my mission knowing my boys will be safe and cared for in a home instead of a kennel. I will be forever grateful for DoD. We may not have any boarder at all if not for DoD. Everyone sharing the post you made up made all the difference. I was able to find a home where she can stay in a similar environment to our own as opposed to her spending such a long time in a kennel not getting as much love and socialization as she needs. My training will go a lot better because I can focus knowing all Sgt Sassy, Patton and Che are happy, comfortable and safe.

I was grateful to find DoD and a way to support our military families. We boarded Sammy and Biscuit from May through December 2012 in Edinburg, TX. It was a great experience for us and I’m pretty sure the dogs enjoyed it too although they were very happy to see Jill!

I can say that it has been an absolute pleasure caring for two pups while their Army mom is deployed. Their owner is one of the most responsible dog owners I have ever encountered; she has been extremely professional and prompt in all our interactions. DoD has also been there every step of the way to ensure a smooth boarding procedure. If you have the experience, patience, financial stability, and accommodations required to board a beloved pet of our brave servicemen and women I would highly recommend doing so. It is a very rewarding experience.

We have had our boarder dog, Dallas, for two weeks. She is a sweetheart and we feel everyday that we are the ones being blessed by keeping Dallas for her owner, who has been deployed. When Dallas goes home, we hope to board another dog for a service member!

I wanted to take a quick second and thank you for being such an incredible organization. I had contacted several "rescue" groups before hearing about you guys in hopes of finding a solution. Needless to say each and every one of those rescues did absolutely nothing and many didn't even return my calls. Cabela is my little lovebug and I owe you all so much for being so amazing. So from the bottom of my heart thank you so much.

I just wanted to let you know that you have been a life saver. What you are doing is helping out so many people. Your animals are your family and being enlisted and a veteran, they are always there to help you pull through any problem with a big smile, purr, or a big sloppy kiss. It's nice to know that there is a place where people can go to, to find temp. homes for their little ones and know that they will still be waiting when they come home. Alisa was amazing. She was there supporting me every step of the way, constantly emailing back - quick responses. WIth so many people needing help I can't believe how one on one she was. It was a breath of fresh air. She made me feel very confident and treated me with so much respect. You have saved so many people from heartache and stress worrying about their loved ones. I know I speak for so many when I say, Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, Thank you.

As a first time user of Dogs on Deployment, I am extremely satisfied with this service. This is my first short military tour from my base unit and I was feared that how am I going to place my doggies in the safe and loving hands while I am gone away since I wouldn’t leave my dogs for kennel boarding for sure, but at same time I can’t afford pricy private boarding as well. I posted an ad on Craigslist and as soon as I got information about DoD from a replying message I contacted Alisa, the founder of DoD. As soon as I registered with the website, Alisa posted my message on their Facebook page to coordinate people to sign up as DoD Boarders for Northern California region, not only that she also insured me of emergency back up to make sure to me that no matter of what that my doggies will be placed in the happy and safe environment . All the phone calls and text messages were very pleasant and all showed to me that Alisa is a wonderful person who truly love dogs and supporting troops more than just treating it as a business. I am really glad that I found DoD, a trustworthy and reliable service for us – U.S. Soldiers, I would recommend Dogs on Deployment to any service men and women who has the same need and loves their dogs.

Honey and I are here at the house. safe and sound. I have to get more food for her. She is doing well. Thank you all again. She will be getting [spayed]. More up dates on that and her heart worm treatment as well. You all are the best. Dogs on Deployment this wouldn't have been possible if you hadn't been the first and organization to believe in Me and Honey. Her story is nothing short of a miracle and it would have been possible with you. This story could have had a very different ending. I can cry tears of Joy today instead of sadness.

Would you be so kind as to announce Bamf and Bebe as deployed? I am so excited and relieved! I just got home from visiting the boarder's house. The place is perfect and they are just wonderful. I ordered [the boarder] a T-Shirt so she can wear it proudly while the dogs are with her. Thanks again for doing what you do

Dogs on Deployment was an excellent idea that I had the amazing opportunity to be apart of this past year. When my ship deployed to South America for a short time, I was able to find a wonderful loving military family to take care of my dog, Hank. Hank is my family and it was horrifying to think about him spending so much time away from me especially during the holidays and in a kennel with minimal playtime, not to mention it was so expensive! Thanks DOD for helping me out and giving me peace of mind during this deployment!
